Kazakhstan expects to join Group of States against Corruption

Astana. September 17. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan hopes to join Group of States against Corruption (GRECO). The chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Struggle against Economic and Corruption Criminality, Kayrat Kozhamzharov, said during the International Conference Struggle against Corruption and Effective Management a Condition for Economic and Social Development of Eastern Europe and Central Asia on Wednesday, the agency reports.

"We put forward our initiative so that the Council of Europe and GRECO approved our program of ratification of two Strasbourg Conventions against Corruption. This gives us the grounds to join GRECO group," K. Kozhamzharov said.

There are 45 GRECO member states. As informed earlier, the participants of the conference accepted the joint statement calling upon all the countries to ratify the UN Convention.
